Chippenham’s Favourite Tree Competition

To celebrate the wonderful selection of trees in Chippenham, we are launching a competition to discover Chippenham’s favourite tree.

Trees are amazing. They provide us with oxygen, clean polluted air, cool down the temperature, produce food and habitat for hundreds of wildlife species, help prevent soil erosion and store carbon emissions away.

Your Nomination

We would like you to let us know your favourite tree by completing a short SurveyMonkey form, available here – Chippenham’s Favourite Tree form. 

Submit your nomination to us between Monday 13 July – Monday 10 August.

Paper copies of the nomination form are available at customer services at the Town Hall, and you will need to provide a photograph of the tree.

• The tree must be within the Chippenham parish boundary – to view the boundary map, please click on the following link – Chippenham Ward Boundaries map.
• Trees do not necessarily have to be on public property but it has to be easily viewed from a public space for judging. Please do not trespass on private property to get a photo of the tree.
• Please only nominate singular trees, not a group of trees or wood, e.g. “The trees in Monkton Park”.

All nominated trees will be judged on form, if it is a good example of the species, landscape, community value and biodiversity.

A shortlist of trees will be selected by the Mayor of Chippenham and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust for you to vote for your favourite.

You will be able to vote for your favourite in the short list between Monday 24 August  – Monday 14 September. The shortlist will be available to vote for online, or in person at customer services at the Town Hall.

The tree with the most votes wins.

Every person who submits a nomination will be entered into prize draw for a chance to win a £100 garden centre voucher.
