In March 2019, Chippenham Town Council set up a multi-agency community safety forum to facilitate local partnership working for the wellbeing of the residents, visitors, and business owners in Chippenham.

Chippenham Community Safety Forum has no decision-making authority on Town Council operational matters or budget expenditure, but facilitates a space to share information, address and discuss issues of concern.

Forum attendees are from local organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors all with varying roles to play in taking a proactive approach to tackling challenges that are being faced locally.

Forum attendees include:

Local Businesses
Social Housing Providers
CCTV
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service
NHS
Wiltshire Council
Wiltshire Police
Local Charitable Organisations
Local Churches

The Chairman is a serving Town Councillor elected at the Town Council’s Annual Meeting of Full Council. The Vice Chairman comes from either the private or voluntary sectors, and is elected at the first Forum meeting each municipal year.

Three Chippenham Town Councillors are nominated and appointed at the beginning of each municipal year to represent Chippenham Town Council at the Chippenham Community Safety Forum.

Chippenham Town Council provides administrative officer support for arranging and organising the meetings. Action points will be recorded and circulated to attendees.

There are four meetings per municipal year hosted by the Town Council that are not open to the press or public as sensitive and personal data may be pertinent to solving particular issues.

Forum attendees act as a conduit between their organisations and the Chippenham Community Safety Forum by putting forward the views of the body they represent and providing feedback to its members. There is no defined list of topics for discussion, as issues arise at varying times.
