The Grants Sub‑Committee meets three times a year to consider applications for funding from local organisations.

Grant Categories
Grants are available under two separate categories:
Climate and Ecological Grants
Applications must have objectives that support one or more of the following aims in Chippenham:
- To inform and help educate about the climate and ecological crisis.
- Reduce carbon emissions.
- Increase biodiversity.
- Help to make Chippenham resilient to the impacts of climate change.
- To reduce waste being sent to landfill by supporting more recycling, reusing, repairing and refurbishment in Chippenham.
- Community Grants
- Applications must have objectives that support one or more of the following aims in Chippenham:

- Have community benefits in Chippenham.
- Support the Town Council’s Corporate Priorities.
- Support the voluntary and community sector.
- Work on improving the quality of life for residents of Chippenham.
Corporate Priorities
In addition to meeting the criteria above, all applications must support at least one of the following corporate priorities:
- Provide and develop services and facilities that are accessible, inclusive and promote health and wellbeing, with a focus on youth provision.
- Play a proactive role in the future development of Chippenham by promoting the town as a vibrant, inclusive and well-connected community
- Help to create a future that is carbon neutral, sustainable, biodiverse and resilient to climate change.
- Help co-create well-connected communities and promote Chippenham as a cultural hub.
- Maintain effective governance and efficient management of resources.

June 2026
Community Grants

Beyond Dementia – £1,000
This funding will support the Music for the Mind group, bringing people living with dementia and their carers together through regular singing sessions that boost wellbeing, confidence, and social connection.

Chippenham CFR Group – £1,429.99
The grant will help equip Community First Responders with additional medical kits and protective clothing, enabling more volunteers to provide rapid, lifesaving care before ambulance crews arrive.

Chippenham Film Club – £1,000
This contribution will support a programme of diverse film screenings and community events, giving residents access to unique cinema experiences and opportunities to connect socially.

Friends of Redland School (FORS) – £1,020
Funding will improve the school’s mud kitchen area with better drainage and surfacing, ensuring it remains a safe, accessible outdoor play space for pupils all year round.

Lordsmead Pre-School Playgroup – £1,145.01
The grant will enable the replacement of worn playground safety matting, creating a safer outdoor play environment for all children, including those with additional needs.

St Andrew’s Church – £3,000
This funding will support the restoration of the church’s historic pipe organ, ensuring it can continue to enhance community, civic, and cultural events.

Wilts & Berks Canal Trust – £405
The grant will contribute to community engagement initiatives linked to the canal’s restoration, promoting local heritage, sustainability, and opportunities for recreation and wildlife.

Youth Adventure Trust – £1,000
This contribution will fund places for vulnerable young people on a residential Forest Camp, helping them build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills through outdoor challenges.

Climate Grants

Early Earth Protectors / Pride in Chippenham– £500
This contribution will support a free Queer Ecology Tour, offering an inclusive and educational experience that encourages people to explore nature, biodiversity, and sustainability from a fresh perspective.

Waste Not Want Not – £3,000
The grant will fund refurbished white goods for vulnerable residents setting up new homes, reducing waste while helping people in need create sustainable and comfortable living spaces.

Community Grants

1st Chippenham Scout Group – £2,564
This grant will fund the replacement of ageing tents with ten new 4‑man models, helping the Scout Group provide safe, comfortable camping experiences for young people.

Age UK Wiltshire – £1,100
This grant will contribute towards the new Chippenham Community Support Service, offering home visits, advice, and volunteer support to help older residents stay connected and informed.

Chippenham & District Transport for the Disabled Society – £449.98
The award will fund a Sat Nav and Dash Cam, improving safety and enabling reliable transport for disabled and vulnerable adults across the Chippenham area.

Chippenham Folk Festival – £1,750
This funding will support the delivery of the four‑day Folk Festival, providing free community events, children’s activities, local performances, and subsidised folk‑arts workshops for young people.

Chippenham Sports Partnership – £1,500
This contribution will help deliver the Chippenham Games at Stanley Park, giving Year 6 pupils across Chippenham opportunities to build confidence, teamwork, and physical skills.

The RISE Trust – £1,614.94
The grant will help sustain weekly youth sessions offering a safe space, creative activities, mentoring, wellbeing support, and free food for young people in Chippenham.

St Peter’s FoodBox – £2,250
This award will support the purchase of essential food staples for weekly deliveries, helping reduce food poverty and preventing waste by redistributing supermarket surplus.

Wiltshire Rural Music – £1,050
Wiltshire Rural Music will use this grant towards their “Keep Music in Mind” project – bringing live acoustic music to isolated older people and those living with dementia, supporting wellbeing and social interaction

Climate Grants

Wiltshire Scrapstore & Resource Centre – £1,584
The grant will support group transport for isolated or low‑income residents, enabling them to access creative workshops that promote mental health, social inclusion, and sustainability.

Zero Chippenham – £3,000
This funding will support water‑quality testing on the River Avon, monitoring key pollutants and publicly sharing results to raise awareness of local environmental health.

Community Grants

Carer Support Wiltshire – £1000
The grant will be used to establish a regular monthly group for unpaid carers to provide respite and support.

Chippenham Carnival Volunteer Committee – £2,000
This funding will aid the return of the Chippenham Carnival.

Chippenham Shed – £1000
Chippenham Shed will use this funding to construct a new enclosure to store both ongoing projects and wood, and to provide additional space for machinery.

Olive Branch- £1278.20
This grant will go towards offering affordable counselling to Chippenham residents.

Pride in Chippenham CIC – £2000
This grant will support the delivery of the 2026 Pride Parade as part of the wider Pride Fest event to be held in 2026.

Read Easy North and West Wiltshire – £500
Read Easy North & West Wiltshire will utilise this grant funding to support Clocal adults by providing them with resources and tailored learning so that they can improve their literacy.

Riverbank Studios – £2000
The grant will be used towards a new studio from which Riverbank Studios can deliver music activities for young people.

Stanton St Quintin Primary School – £500
This grant will be a contribution towards the replacement of the school gazebos.

WILSAR – £1000
This grant will be a contribution towards a new inflatable boat, designed to remain inflated and ready for immediate deployment.

Climate Grants

Chippenham Collective – £516
This grant will be used to purchase gardening tools, enabling the group to maintain and expand their growing site, keep up their citizen science activities and carry out some coppicing.

Chippenham Cycle Network Development Group – £2500
This grant will contribute towards a project to sign and mark the final section of cycleway in Cepen Park North, completing the network of car-free cycle routes in this area.

Rooted Chippenham – £2197.80
Rooted Chippenham received funding towards a project to establish Chippenham’s first community orchard, a project designed to create a vibrant, low maintenance green space that provides fruit, enhances biodiversity, and brings people together.

Waste Not Want Not – £1286.20
Waste Not Want Not supply household items at heavily subsidised prices to people on low income. This grant will be a contribution towards the charity’s running costs.
June 2025
Community Grants

Doorway Wiltshire – £1,500
This grant will enable Doorway to sublet a building for food storage and will free up existing space to be used for 1-1 work with guests.

Youth Adventure Trust – £1,500
The Youth Adventure Trust received funding to enable 12 vulnerable young people from Chippenham to attend Forest Camp in the Forest of Dean in August 2025.

Alzheimer’s Support – £1,000
Alzheimer’s Support runs the Movement for Mind project, a community-based activity for those with dementia. The sessions involve a mix of gentle physical exercise coupled with the opportunity to meet other people.

Sheldon Road Methodist Church – £995
This grant will fund a residential holiday for 9-12 young people who may be behaviourally challenged or from a disadvantaged background.
June 2025
Climate & Ecological Grants

Friends of Monkton Park Primary School – £3,000
This grant will contribute towards the installation of solar panels at Monkton Park Primary School.

Early Earth Protectors – £1,600
Early Earth Protectors is an eco-community group for children. This grant will go towards bat detectors; plant waves and improvements to the group’s eco garden.

Chippenham Reusable Nappy Library – £1,000
This funding will aid the launch of Chippenham Reusable Nappy Library, a service that will allow parents and guardians to hire a nappy kit that will consist of the different types of reusable nappies to try out before they buy their own.
February 2025
Community Grants

Chippenham Folk Festival – £3,000
Supporting the annual Chippenham Folk Festival in May, this grant will subsidise the Friday School Even and the Shooting Roots program. The remaining funds will be used to assist amenities such as medical cover, security and toilet provision.

Yesterday’s Story – £2,470
This initial funding will serve as a launch pad to create a program of events celebrating Chippenham’s history in October 2026.

Chippenham Collective – £1,820
Supporting residents who have mental ill health, neurodivergence or disability, the funds will assist in the facilitation of a timetable of support events by providing materials and venue space.

Wiltshire Rural Music – £1,500
Wiltshire Rural Music’s ‘keep music in mind’ program assists those with Alzheimer’s disease. This funding will provide an additional six sessions for Chippenham residents.
ART Bytes – £1,000
The grant will be used to provide a venue and exhibition space for this year’s Arts Bytes celebration event, which will engage with Chippenham school children from local primary (Year 5), secondary (Year 9) and SEND schools.

Climate Grants

Ivy Lane Primary School – £5,000
The grant will be used to purchase a shed to house repurposed and refurbished items, as part of an outdoor play and learning initiative for the school.

Zero Chippenham – £620
The grant will be used to produce new promotional materials, highlighting their community solar scheme and thermal imaging camera loan scheme.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust – £5,000
This grant will support ‘The Country comes to Town’, a free annual family event taking place this year in Monkton Park in May.
