Swindon Pride was launched in 2008, with the first ever Pride festival being held in Swindon. In 2009, the Pride event was expanded to incorporate Swindon & Wiltshire Pride. Swindon & Wiltshire Pride gained charity status in 2019. The atmosphere for Wiltshire and Swindon Pride is inclusive, happy and vibrant.
Wiltshire and Swindon Pride takes place annually in August, please see the Swindon & Wiltshire Pride website for up-to-date announcements, dates and events.
Chippenham Pride took place for the first time in June 2023, with a full programme of events attended by over 4500 people.
For 2025, Chippenham Pride will take place on 14 & 15 June with a programme of events which will include a walk, live music, market, comedy, art workshops, disco, a raffle and drag brunch. For more information visit, www.chippenhampride.co.uk.Â
In 2021 and 2022, we celebrated Wiltshire and Swindon Pride with a flag raising ceremony at the Town Hall. With the launch of Chippenham Pride in 2023, we now celebrate on this day with a flag raising ceremony, and we look forward to this regular event in our Civic and Ceremonial calendar.
We also fly the Pride Progress flag at other points in the year, to mark LGBTQ+ Pride Month and LGBTQ+ History Awareness Month. You can find out the dates via our Flag Flying Protocol on the link below,
From 2023, we fly the Pride Progress flag. Designer Daniel Quasar produced a flag that symbolises progress with this chevron design flag. Created in 2018, the colours include Transgender Pride (pink/blue/white) and the Philadelphia colours representing People of Colour and those lost to AIDS. The purple circle surrounded by yellow are Intersex Pride; non-gendered colours to represent living outside the binary of gender.
