2022

The last few years have not been what anyone expected and we had to tread new territory in the fight against COVID-19. Purple Flag has been important to many towns and cities that hold the accreditation during the lockdowns, as well as being instrumental in the reopening policies and strategies with key stakeholders as towns and cities adjust to the new way of life post-pandemic.

Highlights from Chippenham’s submission include the committed and engaged work of the Purple Flag partnership, and the wide range of activities on offer appealing to all demographics.

Councillor Desna Allen, Leader of Chippenham Town Council said of this news; “This is brilliant news for Chippenham, and we are delighted to retain our Purple Flag status in Chippenham, it is important to support the nighttime economy in the town whilst reassuring people we have an effective infrastructure to maintain a safe and clean night time destination.

Chief Executive of Chippenham Town Council, Mark Smith (pictured above with Ojay McDonald, CEO of awarding body ATCM) said;
“This result is evidence of our effective partnership working in Chippenham. Our thanks go to everyone involved who has given their time and energy in supporting this worthwhile project for the town.”
