Council Donations
At the meeting of the Strategy and Resources Committee held on 7 September 2022, Councillors agreed to adopt the Terms of Reference and relevant Criteria Policies for the Council Donations Sub Committee to replace the existing Community Donations Sub Committee with immediate effect. The Councillor membership and meeting dates of this sub-committee will remain the same for the remaining municipal year.
There are two aspects to Council Donations Sub Committee, the previous Community Donations Scheme and the newly adopted Climate and Ecological Donations Scheme. There is an extremely tight deadline for applications for the next meeting in October, applications must be received by 22 September 2022.

The new Climate and Ecological Donations Scheme will help the town to reach carbon neutrality and support ecology. Applications must have objectives that support one or more of the following aims in Chippenham:
• Raising awareness of the climate and ecological crisis.
• Reducing carbon emissions.
• Increasing biodiversity.
• Helping to make Chippenham resilient to the impacts of climate change.
• Promoting sustainable practices such as reducing waste and plastics and increasing recycling and reuse of items

Assessors highlighted our effective multi-agency working, and recognised Chippenham as an attractive destination that makes excellent use of its heritage assets with ambitious plans for the future development of the riverside.
With fewer than 100 Purple Flag destinations worldwide, we are proud that Chippenham continues to be recognised as a place where people can enjoy a high-quality, safe and thriving evening experience.
