Welcome to our new Mayor of Chippenham

We are delighted to welcome our new Mayor of Chippenham, Councillor Teresa Hutton!

Teresa has been Deputy Mayor for the last year, and has been representing Pewsham ward for the last seven years.

The Annual Council Meeting on 17 June took place via Zoom, where Teresa was unanimously voted in as the new Mayor of Chippenham.

We asked Teresa what her initial thoughts are on becoming the Town Mayor;

“I am delighted and honoured to have been the first mayor of Chippenham to have been appointed virtually.

As we come out of lock down following the dreadful COVID 19 Pandemic, as Mayor of Chippenham I look forward to getting to know and supporting the various organisations, clubs and charities and in the first instance meeting them virtually.

I am looking forward to working with and supporting the Wiltshire Portage Service as my mayoral charity. They are based in Chippenham and provide a free home visiting service to children and their families (110 children supported a week) who have special educational needs and disabilities. They work with the children and their families through holistic play to help them towards being involved in their community and schools.”

We would also like to congratulate Councillor Chris Ruck who has been unanimously voted as Deputy Mayor.
