The Town Council’s Leader (Cllr Sandie Webb) and Chief Executive (Mark Smith) have recently received letters from Cllr Phillip Whitehead, Leader at Wiltshire Council and Terence Herbert, Chief Executive at Wiltshire Council. The background to these letters is that the Town Council’s Chief Executive has for some time now been attempting to understand the level of income from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) from Wiltshire Council should the extent of planned development as suggested in the Local Plan Review come forward. The Town Council’s Chief Executive also sought reassurance that any CIL money received by Wiltshire Council as a result of development within Chippenham would be ring-fenced for Chippenham.
On 25 February 2021, an unsolicited letter was sent to Cllr Sandie Webb, Leader of Chippenham Town Council, and on 26 February 2021, the Town Council’s Chief Executive received a similar letter from the Chief Executive at Wiltshire Council, which was immediately circulated to the Chippenham Town Councillors by way of an internal Councillor’s Bulletin.
These letters may be the subject of requests under the Freedom of Information Act (2000), therefore, in the interests of openness and transparency the Town Council has included links to those letters here:
