The Mayor of Chippenham Councillor Teresa Hutton, the Leader Councillor Sandie Webb and all Councillors and staff at Chippenham Town Council are deeply saddened on hearing the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. We send our sincere condolences to HM The Queen and the rest of The Royal Family at this very sad time.

The Union Flag on the Town Hall will be flown at half-mast during this time until 8am on the day after the funeral. If you would like to write a message of condolence you can do so on The Royal website HERE.

Alternatively there is a Book of Condolence in the Foyer at the Town Hall which will be available from 9am on Monday 12 April 2021, please bring your own pen where possible and remember that social distancing will be in place and masks should be worn if attending the Town Hall.

If you would like to lay flowers of tribute, please do so at the War Memorial after The Mayor of Chippenham has laid flowers on behalf of the Town Council at 4pm on Friday 9 April.

Please ensure your flowers are not wrapped in plastic, bins are provided at the War Memorial for you to use.

All flowers and other memorial items will be removed after the day of the funeral and will be composted and recycled where possible.

Please consider the option of donating to a suitable charity of your choice rather than purchasing flowers.

As a mark of respect, The Mayor of Chippenham has reduced their Mayoral duties during this time.
