Armistice Day & Remembrance Sunday 2021

Armistice Day

On Thursday 11 November the Royal British Legion lead a short service at the Town Hall to commemorate Armistice Day.

In attendance was the Deputy Lieutenant, The Mayor of Chippenham Councillor John Scragg, representatives from 9 Regiment RLC, Chippenham Town Councillors and officers of the Council, and invited guests.

We gathered on the Town Hall steps to observe a 2-minute silence at 11am followed by Reveille and the Kohima Epitaph.

Remembrance Sunday 2021

On Sunday 14 November we worked in partnership with The Royal British Legion at the Town Hall to welcome local dignitaries and invited guests followed by the annual Service of Remembrance at St Andrew’s Church.

The service began with the Macebearer leading a procession from the Town Hall at 10:05 am to St Andrew’s Church. Following the Service of Remembrance, at 10:55 am the Macebearer led the procession to the Wall Memorial where there was an Act of Remembrance. We welcomed members of the public and the community to join us at the War Memorial for the Service.

At 11 am there was a two-minute silence followed by Reveille, Kohima Epitaph, National Anthem and Laying of Wreaths.

After the Laying of Wreaths, the Macebearer lead the procession to the Town Hall steps where dignitaries and organisations marched past.

If you are looking for alternative ways to get involved in Remembrance Sunday then The Royal British Legion is running a series of events and online pages, including the popular Virtual Field of Remembrance that you can find out more about HERE.
