You can now recognise our Environmental Services team by their new yellow hi-vis uniform!

(Sadly it’s not the Ghostbusters)

Chippenham Town Council has started investing in battery powered machines for use across our parks and estates these include a leaf blower, hedge cutters and a grass strimmer all of which are powered by a battery back pack.  The batteries are interchangeable avoiding the need to buy single batteries for each piece of equipment and they produce zero emissions making them environmentally friendly. The low noise levels means a nicer environment for staff and the general public. They are also lighter than the traditional petrol equivalents making them easier for the operator to work with.

We still have a need for petrol machines for some tasks, however battery powered kit is evolving fast, manufactures say batteries are always improving and in the near future will be capable of longer usage times.
