Commonwealth Day will be marked on Monday 14 March 2022 with a flag-raising ceremony starting at 9.55am on the steps of the Town Hall. During the ceremony, the Commonwealth Flag will be raised and flown from the Town Hall.
During the ceremony the Mayor of Chippenham, Cllr John Scragg will invite the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mr William Wyldbore-Smith to read the official Commonwealth Day message from HRH The Queen.
Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration, held on the second Monday in March. It is an opportunity for people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe to promote the Commonwealth’s shared values of peace, democracy equality and to celebrate the association’s rich diversity.
