Christmas Trail Community Choice Award

Chippenham Town Council is delighted to announce that Rhys Evans aged 4 has received the Community Choice Award in The Joy of Christmas Trail.

The Chippenham community were invited to put pens to paper to share the joy of Christmas. 24 artworks featured in an online advent calendar and town trail, with all entrants receiving their design as a tree decoration made by local resin artist Paige Alexander.

Chippenham Mayor, Councillor Teresa Hutton, said “It was wonderful to see the community enjoying the trail throughout December. We’re really grateful to all who entered artwork and to Chippenham’s businesses who took part by displaying the trail in their windows.”

Community Choice recipient Rhys was congratulated by the Mayor virtually via Zoom, where he was presented with a certificate, selection of Wiltshire Scrapstore craft packs and an art set to continue his creativity. Rhys drew a snowman in his design, describing how “Snowmen come out at Christmas and everyone likes them, and people smile when they see them, making them happy.”

Rhys’ Mum, Lynette Averies, said “When we were told that Rhys picture was voted as the community choice we were absolutely thrilled. We are so thankful to all of those who thought of and worked so hard to provide a wonderful community event and to those who took the time to vote. All the entrants were wonderful.”
