Chippenham Town Council reject all options presented by Wiltshire Council for Future Chippenham consultation.
At the Extraordinary meeting of Full Council on Thursday 4 March 2021, Councillors agreed in a recorded vote to submit a letter to Wiltshire Council as a formal response to the Future Chippenham public consultation.
The letter reads;
In response to the Future Chippenham Consultation, the overriding view of Chippenham Town Councillors is that they do not agree with the proposals for any road in Chippenham. Please see attached comments from twelve individual Town Councillors which support this view (Enclosed Document 1). This is the official Chippenham Town Council response to the consultation as approved at the Extraordinary Full Council meeting held on Thursday 04 March 2021.

Many Chippenham residents attended the meeting and vehemently expressed their objections to the proposals put forward by Wiltshire Council which Chippenham Town Councillors supported. With 19 out of 23 Councillors present at the meeting, 18 voted in favour of writing a formal letter, one councillor abstained from the vote.

Mayor of Chippenham, Councillor Teresa Hutton who chaired the meeting said; “As residents of Chippenham ourselves, we fully support our community in opposing all of the options put forward by Wiltshire Council in the Future Chippenham consultation.”
