My name is Mark Packard and I am one of three Town Councillors representing Pewsham.

I have a particular interest in making Pewsham a safe and pleasant place to live. I am in regular contact with the Community Police to make sure any hooliganism and noise is investigated and acted upon. I would encourage residents to report any such incidents to the police on 0845 408 7000. Community Police regularly patrol during the day and please make time to talk to them with your legitimate concerns.

I am on the Committee that runs the Community Hall. This facility is well used and kept in a good state of repair.

Pewsham Park is another well used facility which is cleaned and maintained by the Town Council each working day. There is a teen shelter in the Park which is for use by local youngsters.

Webbington, Canal and Lodge roads do suffer from high noise levels and being used as a short cut by car traffic. In 2010 Wilshire Council will have traffic calming and mini roundabouts installed on Webbington Road to slow traffic down, therefore reducing noise levels and helping pedestrians and cyclists cross the road. This is being installed partly because of the poor visibility and adverse camber on Webbington Road, visibility on Canal and Lodge Roads is much better, so that the zebra crossing on Lodge Road is considered satisfactory.
