JOB DESCRIPTION

DESIGNATION OF POST:Casual Halls Assistant

GRADE: Spinal Column Point 9

EFFECTIVE DATE OF JOB DESCRIPTION: 1 September 2007

RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Halls Manager

  1. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To assist with all aspects of duties relating to the management and operation of the Town Hall and Neeld Hall and to liaise as directed with the Assistant halls Manager and the Administrative Officer (Halls and Finance) to determine detailed work schedules and priorities.

  2. KEY TASKS
    1. Assists as directed with the maintenance and cleaning of all halls, syndicate rooms, kitchen, bar, toilets, communal areas and associated equipment to a presentable, clean and tidy condition, ensuring the availability of soap, toilet rolls, towels and any other supplies needed.
    2. Prepares rooms as directed for functions to include setting out tables, chairs and associated equipment ensuring that any specific requirements relating to facilities are complied with.
    3. To attend lettings and functions as required and to assume responsibility for functions out of normal office hours as directed.
    4. To be the secondary key holder with responsibility for the security of the Town Hall and Neeld Hall and associated equipment, ensuring that the halls are closed at the times required to maintain security and attend alarm call outs as required.
    5. To assist with minor running repairs and routine maintenance as directed to ensure the ongoing operation of the halls and to operate all plant in accordance with the makers instructions, affecting energy achieving cost savings wherever possible.
    6. To assist the Assistant Halls Manager and the Administrative Officer (Halls and Finance) with all aspects of lettings including in particular regular preventative maintenance surveys, stock control and liaison with any outside contract bar and caterers as required.
    7. To assist as directed with the updating of all notice boards in the Town Hall and Neeld Hall giving information to hirers of rooms or general enquirers.
    8. SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SERVICE/POST
      1. To be a secondary key holder and attend alarm call outs as required.
      2. To work the hours directed to ensure that the Town Hall and Neeld Hall are opened and closed to meet the requirements of lettings and that attendance at functions is undertaken when directed to do so.
      3. Lone working will be a requirement.

    10. HEALTH AND SAFETY
      1. The postholder must take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and any other persons who may be affected by their work.
      2. To co-operate with the Town Council to help ensure that all statutory provisions and regulations are complied with including Fire Regulations.
    11. OTHER DUTIES

      The postholder will undertake any other duties required by the management of the Town Council which are applicable to the grading/nature of the post and which do not change the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed
