Theatre Brings Vote 100 to Chippenham

Tickets are currently on sale for The Cause, an imagined meeting between two women’s suffrage greats, which will be performed at Chippenham’s medieval Yelde Hall on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 June as part of a tour across the South West.

This dynamic production by Dreadnought South West marks the centenary year of the first votes for some women in 1918 and has an original musical score and film animation projected for thrilling visual effect. Supported with funding from Arts Council England, the performance explores how Emmeline Pankhurst and Millicent Fawcett campaigned for so long and the different means they used to do so.

Councillor Sandie Webb, Leader of Chippenham Town Council said “It is fantastic to welcome such a high calibre production to Chippenham as part of our town’s cultural offering. The Cause is sure to be an emotive and thought provoking performance.”

The Cause is part of a season of events led by Chippenham Museum to mark the Vote 100 centenary.
