The Mayor’s Investiture

On Wednesday 22 May 2019 we celebrated  the past year for the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Andy Phillips,  and welcomed the new Mayor of Chippenham Councillor Desna Allen. The ceremony was held in the Town Hall and was opened with supportive positive comments from Len Scott.

The outgoing Mayor  invited Councillor Jenny Budgell to present her nomination and invited all Town Councillors present to welcome the incoming Mayor with a show of hands.

Councillor Desna Allen read and signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office of Mayor.
The Mayor, Councillor Desna Allen invited the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Andy Phillips to make a speech looking back on his year in office which included  thanks and presentations. Local charity Alzheimer’s Support received a cheque for the total amount raised in the Mayoral year as the Mayor’s charity of choice.

The Mayor invited Councillor John Scragg to propose a vote of thanks to the outgoing Mayor.

The Mayor of Chippenham gave her inaugural speech and made her nomination in support of Councillor Teresa Hutton to be the Deputy Mayor.

The Mayor then invited Councillor Teresa Hutton to receive the Chain of Office, make her acceptance speech. The ceremony was followed by refreshments in the Neeld Community & Arts Centre.
