Talk: Chippenham People & Places

Wednesday 9 August, 7.30pm

Look back at the people and places that have shaped Chippenham with Museum Curator Melissa Barnett. This talk would be an ideal introduction to Chippenham’s past for both residents wanting to find out more about where they live and visitors exploring the Wiltshire area.

Chippenham has been the birthplace, home or workplace of many well-known figures including Alfred the Great, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and more recently Jeremy Corbyn. Discover the stories behind a range of familiar and lesser-known notable people and places from the town’s past.

Walk: Chippenham People & Places

Saturday 12th August, 2.30pm
Meet at Chippenham Museum

Join Chippenham Museum Curator Melissa Barnett for a guided walk around Chippenham town centre looking back at the people and places that shaped the town that stands today.

Chippenham’s streets and architecture reveal layers of social and industrial heritage, from the canal wharf on the site of the bus station to the town’s many former coaching inns. This walk would be an ideal introduction to Chippenham’s past for both residents wanting to find out more about where they live and visitors exploring the Wiltshire area.
