Stanley Park Sports Ground - The Introduction
Stanley Park Sports Ground is Chippenham Town Council's newest
facility and is located to the south east of Chippenham. The
prestigious facility opened to the public on the 26th September
2004 and has provided the local community with the much sought
after additional playing fields they have longed for.
On 28th October Stanley Park was
officially opened by the Town Mayor and Swindon Town FC Goalkeeper
Rhys Evans. The opening coincided with a 'Festival of Football' to
celebrate the occasion, which was attended by local boys and girls
aged 5-14 yrs. The children undertook football skills coaching,
participated in tournaments; received mementos of the festival and
enjoyed a fun packed three days of football.
The £2 million project received funding from Chippenham Town
Council, North Wiltshire District Council (NWDC), Wiltshire County
Council, the Viridor Landfill Tax Credit Scheme and the maximum
grant award from the Football Foundation.
The Environmentally friendly 47 acre site set in eye-catching
surroundings is Wiltshire's largest outdoor sporting facility and
