A Steering Group has been appointed to manage and lead on the Chippenham Neighbourhood Plan, an ambitious, community-focused strategy, which will set out local planning policy to guide future development within the Town in the coming years.
The formation of the Steering Group is an important first step in the Neighbourhood Plan process. It comprises of a mix of six Town Councillors and six members of the public, and it reports to Chippenham Town Council as the ‘qualifying body’.
The Steering Group will meet at Chippenham Town Hall for the first time on 6th November, after which they will hold monthly meetings.
The Steering Group comprises of:
Chairman: Cllr. Nick Murry
Cllr. Clare Cape
Cllr. Michael Merry
Cllr. Chris Ruck
Cllr. John Scragg
Cllr. Sandie Webb
The Steering Group is principally being supported by the Town Council’s Planning Officer, Andy Conroy; and their appointed Planning Consultant, Dr. Andrea Pellegram.
It will be looking for interested members of the local community to lead or join Topic Groups later on in 2019, as community consultation and a narrowing down of focus on the key issues facing the Town begins.
Chairman, Cllr Nick Murry commented:
“Developing a Neighbourhood Plan will give the people of Chippenham an opportunity to help shape and influence the future development of the town, at a time when there’s a much change on the horizon”
“The level of interest and enthusiasm to get involved from within our community has been inspiring, and following a careful selection process, we now have an excellent combination of expertise and experience in our newly formed Steering Group,”
“I am looking forward to working with the Steering Group and the forthcoming Topic Groups (yet to be recruited) in pressing ahead with this important task.”
