Monkton Park public toilets to incur a 20p charge

A 20p cost to use the public toilets in Monkton Park will be introduced in April. The charge has been agreed to bring the facility in line with other public conveniences the Town Council manages such at the Bus Station in Timber Street and Bath Road. The charge also helps to mitigate the cost of running the facility.

Chippenham Town Council agreed to save the toilet facility from closure by Wiltshire Council on 1st April 2016 and have managed the toilets since then. With maintenance and running costs on the rise, the introduction of the 20p charge will ensure the toilets remain open.

The disabled toilet will continue to be accessed via a Radar key which can be purchased by bona fide disabled users at numerous outlets, including the Town Council’s Customer Services at the Town Hall.

Cllr Desna Allen, Chair of the Amenities, Culture and Leisure Committee at Chippenham Town Council said:
“The 20p charge is necessary to keep these vital facilities open, clean and safe to use”
