Chippenham is one of the West
Country's most dynamic market towns with a population of over
40,000. The combination of the old and the new, the historic
architectural gems, modern shopping centres and nearness to some of
the country's greatest houses and historic villages, makes this
town midway between Bath and Swindon an ideal location for living,
working and visiting.

Information Centre
PLEASE NOTE:
For a temporary period, the Tourist Information Centre is in the
process of moving to the unit adjascent to the Town Hall. During
this process; any enquiries should be directed to the Town Hall on
01249 446699.
We will inform you when the Tourist Information Centre is fully
operational.
Civic Award
Scheme
Each year the Town Council presents
Civic Awards to individuals who have made a material contribution
to the advancement, wellbeing and welfare of the people of
Chippenham or demonstrated outstanding citizenship.
Nominations are invited for a
maximum of five awards at the beginning of each year and nominees
have to satisfy the approved criteria. Final approval is given at
the July Meeting of the Town Council with presentations taking
place at the Civic Sunday ceremony held in September the same
year.
If you or your organisation would
like to nominate an individual, you must be able to demonstrate
that before or during 2011 the person put forward has made a
material contribution to the advancement, wellbeing and welfare of
the people of Chippenham, supported charitable work carried out in
the Town, assisted the work of the Town Council in a voluntary
capacity or demonstrated outstanding Citizenship.
Proposal forms must be completed by
both a Proposer and a Seconder who are residents within the
Chippenham Civic Boundary and returned to the Town Clerk,
Chippenham Town Council, Town Hall, High Street, Chippenham,
Wiltshire, SN15 3ER by Friday 17th February 2012.

Where is Chippenham
Chippenham is set on a prominent
crossing of the River Avon and lies between the Malborough Downs to
the East, the Cotswolds to the North and West and Salisbury Plain
to the South. Surrounding the town are a number of stone-built
villages, including Lacock (National Trust), Biddestone and Castle
Combe. The great house and art treasures of Longleat, Bowood,
Lacock Abbey, Sheldon Manor and Corsham Court are within easy
reach.
