We’re getting ready for our FREE family fun day on Sunday June 12 in John Coles Park, 12 noon to 4pm.
The countdown is on – we’re expecting to be busy so if you’re planning to join us, please think about leaving the car at home and either walking or cycling. If you do need to drive, could you park in the nearby public car parks? There will be no parking on site. Parking is limited in the area around the park so please could you avoid blocking private driveways or parking inconsiderately in the neighbouring residential roads. Thank you.
Thanks to our deputy mayor Mary Norton, Adam Bailey and Jamie Chivers from Chippenham Motor Company and Matthew Boast from the park kiosk for their help with the preparations!
This year’s event has a royal theme to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday. There’s so much going on – a children’s army assault course, military vehicles, face painting, bouncy castles, Swindon Town FC inflatable football pitch with our Stanley Park team, make your own crown at the creative craft sessions, SplashPad, MUGA, quiet reflection area with Chippenham churches.
The community village is new this year and we’re delighted so many town groups and organisations are joining us. North Chippenham churches, led by St Paul’s Church, are moving their Sunday morning service to the park for an act of community worship between 11am to 11.45pm.
Money raised at the fun day will be donated to the mayor Cllr Terry Gibson’s chosen charity, Springboard Opportunity Group.
Huge thanks to Chippenham Motor Company for supporting this year’s event. Thanks also to Matthew Boast for providing the drinks and crown cake for our tea party for some of the town’s 90 year olds to mark the royal birthday.
