A new initiative at Stanley Park is giving children with cerebral palsy the chance to come and enjoy playing football.

The CP football kickstart session is the first of its kind in Wiltshire and the hope is it will take off and become a regular fixture.

The first trial session is at Stanley Park on June 11 from 10am to 12noon. It’s suitable for children aged five to 16 both those who use walking frames and those playing unaided.

The initiative has been put together by our sports community outreach officer Paul Harvey working with the CPSport organisation.

He said: “It’s the first course of its kind in the county and we hope it will take off. This first session is to see what demand there is and to grow it from there.”

Coaches from Stanley Park and CP Sport will be leading the session and coaches from the town’s two youth teams, Chippenham Town Youth FC and FC Chippenham Youth are being invited to take part and support the initiative.

Sign up is by June 3 by contacting Sam Turner at cpsport.org or call 0115 925 6442.
