POST OF DEPUTY MACEBEARER

The Town Council has been recognised as a leading authority in the provision of Civic and Ceremonial events and upholds the traditions of the town.

The role of the Macebearer is to attend (protect) the Town Mayor of the day on Civic and Ceremonial occasions.   Traditionally the Town Council holds four robed ceremonies during the Municipal Year which are attended by Town Councillors, the Mayor, and the Macebearer.

The Town Council is looking to appoint a Deputy Macebearer to deputise for the Macebearer when required.  Prospective candidates should be honest and trustworthy and possess a sense of civic pride.  You will be required to become a Member of the Guild of Macebearers.
