Olympic Torch Relay

The Olympic Torch will be making its way through Chippenham on
May 23rd as part of its route across the UK. Starting on the
Bristol Road at 9.46am ( From the Park Avenue junction)
a succession of torch bearers will carry the torch via Marshfield
Road, Park Lane, New Road , High Street, Market Place, The Causeway
and finally London Road to Hardens Road at 10.15am.This will be
followed by a parade by the torch bearers through the town to
a presentation by the Mayor outside the TownHall at 11.00am
followed by a civic reseption.
There will be a Fun Fair on River Island, a jazz band outside
the Town Hall and two choirs, the Ugandan Church Choir and
Lingmara Choir in the Market Place
The Olympic Torch Relay will be a 70-day celebration, starting
in the UK on 18 May, travelling thousands of miles and bringing the
London 2012 Games to many communities.
