Coronavirus: Changes in our services and facilities

Chippenham Town Council are following and responding to the latest guidance on from Government announced on 16 March and we are taking the following measures to safeguard our staff and visitors.


We are still operating, many staff are working from home and some are continuing to work on site such as the Environmental Services team, strictly following Government guidance.

Town Hall Customer Services, Chippenham Museum, Yelde Hall, Neeld Community & Arts Centre and Stanley Park Sports Ground
All of these venues are closed with immediate effect until further notice.
If you have bought a ticket to an event or show in this period, we will be in touch to offer you a refund where relevant, we would welcome your patience during this time. We are working hard to arrange alternative dates for events where possible. All external hire events have been cancelled/rescheduled during this time.

Committee and Full Council meetings
Full Council meetings, Standing Committee meeting and Sub-Committee meetings have all been suspended until further notice.


John Coles Park

Tennis courts
Only Court 1 and 3 will be available for use as the net on court 2 will be removed to help with social distancing. All users of the tennis courts must adhere to the rules set out by the LTA which are available to download in full HERE

Car park and public toilets
Both are open.

Refreshments Kiosk
This is open for a take away service only. For everyone’s safety, please ensure you follow the social distancing guidelines at all times.

Bowls Club
Waiting for further clarification from Bowls England.

The MUGA tends to attract groups of young people, so we are taking a phased approach and currently keeping the MUGA closed while we monitor the social distancing behaviour and if all goes well we will open it in the next few weeks. This applies to all of our MUGA sites at Pewsham Park, Little Battens and Monkton Park.


Friday & Saturday Market

Following a recent change in Government guidance, we are delighted to say we can now make plans to re-open the Friday and Saturday Charter Market.

Our regular traders will return if they would like to on Friday 5 June and Saturday 6 June to trade with our normal hours of 8am – 4pm

We ask all visitors to the market to be responsible in following social distancing guidelines giving a 2 metre space between yourself and others

The following will remain open:

London Road Cemetery
The cemetery will remain open until we receive further guidance that it should close.

Environmental Services
Litter collection, street cleansing, grass cutting and Grounds maintenance will continue.
