Commonwealth Day 2016

7th March 2016 / News archive

We marked Commonwealth Day on Monday March 14, with a cultural festival of traditional costumes, dance, art and food.

Commanding Officer Tim Symonds presents the Commonwealth flag to Mayor David Powell.

Led by Mayor David Powell, we raised the Commonwealth flag from the Town Hall steps at 10am with our military friends, 9 Logistics Regiment, based at Hullavington Barracks.

Hundreds of local schoolchildren joined us for a colourful journey around the Commonwealth.
Last year hundreds packed into the Neeld for the event which was the first time the town had marked the occasion. This year we topped that and next year’s event is promising to be bigger again!
