Chippenham Museum Celebrates Volunteers

Chippenham Museum invited their team of over 50 volunteers to a Summer Party at Chippenham’s medieval Yelde Hall on Monday 4th June to celebrate Volunteers’ Week, a national annual event which seeks to share the fantastic contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK.

Over the past year the museum’s volunteer team gave a combined total of 5100 hours in a variety of roles including welcoming visitors and helping to look after objects and documents behind the scenes.

Councillor Sandie Webb, Leader of Chippenham Town Council said; “We are so grateful to the team of volunteers who support our museum. They offer a wonderful mix of experience which enriches our customer experience.”

Chippenham Museum, which is free to visit and located in the Market Place, has completed a number of development projects over the past year. Visitors can now enjoy a new retail space, a larger temporary exhibition gallery and a number of displays have been refreshed with more items on display than ever before.

Chippenham Museum Curator Melissa Barnett said; “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our superb volunteer team, particularly for their continued support during our recent development projects. Thanks to our volunteers the museum is able to fulfil its mission of sharing and caring for Chippenham’s past with a far greater impact.”

Chippenham Museum is a Chippenham Town Council facility which tells the story of the people and history of Chippenham and the surrounding villages from prehistoric times up until the present day.  The museum is free to explore and is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm including bank holidays.
